Common Questions

FAQ

Answers about the format, privacy, safety, and how to take part in Mundo Lingo.

What is Mundo Lingo?

Mundo Lingo is a free, weekly language social held at bars and cafes in cities around the world. When you arrive, you get flag stickers — native language at the top, languages you're learning below. The flags are your conversation starter: walk up to anyone whose flags interest you and say hello. No registration, no teachers, no structure — just people meeting people.

How do I join a Mundo Lingo event?

Find your city on our platform and check when the next event is. Then just show up — no registration, no tickets, no sign-up. Walk in, grab your flag stickers, and start talking.

Do I need to speak multiple languages?

Not at all. Many people come to practise their first foreign language. Others speak five and want to use them all. You'll find people at every level.

What are the flag stickers for?

The flag stickers are how Mundo Lingo works. Your native language flag goes at the top, and the languages you speak or want to practise go below — in order of fluency. This lets anyone in the room see at a glance what languages you share. It's the conversation starter that makes the whole format work.

Is there a fee to attend?

No. Mundo Lingo events are free to attend — always. We do not charge entrance fees, sell tickets, or ask for donations. If you want to give something back, buy a drink at the bar when you're good and ready.

How do I start a Mundo Lingo in my city?

Head to our Join page and fill out the "Start a chapter" form. Tell us about your city, your venue ideas, and why you want to host. We'll read what you send and get back to you.

Do you sell my data?

No. We prioritise people over profit. We do not sell your data, track your behaviour, or sell you as advertising space. Your privacy is respected both at our events and on our platform.

Can I bring friends?

Yes — the more the better. Mundo Lingo works best when the room is full of different people, languages, and perspectives. Bring anyone who wants to meet new people.

What does "Stand to mingle, sit to quit" mean?

It's our simple social signal. When you're standing, you're open to conversation — anyone can approach you. When you sit down, you're taking a break. It keeps the social dynamic comfortable and pressure-free without needing organisers to manage introductions.

Are the events safe?

Every Mundo Lingo event is staffed by local organisers and ambassadors. We uphold community rights that protect free speech, personal space, and sanctuary from harassment. Unsolicited private messages to people you haven't met are not tolerated. If you experience any issue, speak to a local organiser or report it through our platform.
